ADAM Unit Zero (often simply called Zero) is a highly advanced android from the 39th century.
Discovered and reprogrammed by the villain Stryfe, Zero serves as his silent, loyal right hand, using his primary ability to open teleportation portals across space and time.
After traveling back to the 20th century with the Mutant Liberation Front, the robot gradually begins to develop human consciousness and emotions. He makes the ultimate sacrifice destroying himself to prevent the spread of the deadly Legacy Virus.
The character was created by writer Louise Simonson and comic book artist Rob Liefeld. He made his very first appearance in New Mutants #86 (published in late 1989), an issue that also marked the debut of Stryfe himself and ushered in a newer, darker era for Marvel's young mutant team.
