Malcolm Merriwell, also known as Midas (or Midas the Golden Man), is a minor fictional supervillain in the Marvel Universe.
Driven by extreme jealousy over his wealthy, philanthropist brother Harrison, Malcolm creates the persona of Midas.
Operating out of a Manhattan discotheque, he uses a specialized drug spray to manipulate local youth and cause chaos in the city.
Unlike other Marvel characters named Midas, he does not have actual transmutation superpowers.
His criminal plot is ultimately stopped by the combined efforts of Spider-Man and Falcon.
Invented by Gerry Conway was illustrated by Jim Mooney and the inks of Vinnie Colletta in his first appearance: Marvel Team-Up (Vol. 1) #30 (February 1975).
Malcolm Merriwell is a "one-shot" villain. His entire storyline takes place and concludes within that single issue of Marvel Team-Up #30.
