Tutorial: how to use decals

First thing to do is to have a decal.
In the picture I'm going to use Tamiya decals to complete some figures I customized time ago.

 Cut just the decals you know you want to use.

 Put them in a fresh water for 30 seconds (or longer if needed, usually for bigger ones). In the picture I used a plastic plate.

 Move them from the paper gently with a certain tool, fingers also are a good tool!

Put them on the surface you selected. You will have a certain time until the water is still remaining on them to adjust in the right position.

 When the water dries the work is done. eventually cover them with a satin transparent layer.
