Bring the tools back home
Hi,
it seems that I'm sleeping a while, but things aren't always as they appear...
Depsite the fact I'm much busy in this period, I dedicated lot of time in sculpting and not painting, this was because I wanted to have the minor possible number of tools ariound the house...
So, today, I got in progress 13 miniatures.... I'm not going to say which characters one I'm issuing but I can tell that all of them are now ready for painting, so please stay tuned...
The only sneakeye I want to give is this picture of one scratch build character. The picture is a bit dated, the figure was completed yesterday...
Who's that????
What is white is Magic Sculp White, and unfortunatly I have to say that I'm now run out of this amazing product!
What is Grey is something new I wanted to test for the base structure of my scratch built miniatures: Bostik Stone Repair.
This stuff is hardening like a stone, it is a bi-component product and the vantage is that is curing and haredening in 10 minutes. This means that when I have only one hour per weekend for my miniatures it helps a lot!
Other vantage is the cost, that is about 4 euro/pc comparable to the 13 euro/pc of Milliput.
Unfortunately it smells like hell, and you only have 10 minutes for modelling it!!!
No reaction after contact with my skin (at least until after 15 days....) even if the manufacturer suggests to use gloves when handling. But after all also Milliput producers are suggesting to use gloves. definitely I don't think a customizer or a sculptor can use gloves when modelling.....
In the box of this Bostik Stone Repair you will find the two components one "inside" the other: yes, they are two cylinders, one around the other, and when you cut a piece (perpendicularly) you automatically have the right mix of hardener and material. In Milliput instead you have two separate cylinders, one for hardener and the other for the product.
I warmly suggest this stuff from Bostik when doing bases for miniatures. Specially if my skin will continue doing its job for at least another couple of years....
