He is back!

Good morning everyone!

A few days ago, I received a beautiful gift from my longtime friend and colleague in many customization projects, Paxam.

He painted a resin replica of Stan Lee for me and sent it to me.

Below are the photos I took

I immediately added it to my collection, he's in ggod company now, and I invite you to visit Paxam's blog, because he's finally back to publishing miniatures, and his work is always incredibly beautiful.

X-COM Corporal Michaela Ionescu, Assault

Welcome dear followers (if you exist!) to the XCOM WAVE 2!

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I'm finally done with Marvel Comics Wave number 5 (503 Marvel Comics customs done...), and today is marking the start of XCOM Wave 2.

There are 27 X-COM releases planned, and I'm sure you'll love them. New characters, new members of the Menace 1-5 team, and lots and lots of evil aliens!

Let's start with her: Corporal Mihaela Ionescu, Assault specialist from Romania.

Find her 4D view in the X-Com gallery and eventually give a look at the making of Mihaela in my Youtube Channel below,

3D printed by me, from an STL file of a beefy version of... Lara Croft... and modified with green Milliput.

I hope you like it.

Marvel Comics custom Lady Dorma

Lady Dorma was a noble Atlantean royal who was a key figure in the history of Marvel's Namor, the Sub-Mariner, acting as his lover and confidante.

Initially portrayed as Namor's cousin, she was later retconned to be his lover. When Namor was presumed dead, she became engaged to the Atlantean warlord Krang, but when Namor returned, she broke off the engagement and reaffirmed her love for him. Her love for Namor was a source of conflict, particularly when she became jealous of his love for Sue Storm (the Invisible Girl), which led her to betray Atlantis to the warlord Attuma.

Here we go with my Marvel Comics Custom Number 503:

And her video....

And since today... watch your back!

The X-COM Wave 2 has arrived!!

Marvel Comics custom Megaman

Courtesy Marvel.fandom.com:

Nathan Cooper was transformed into Megaman by an alien which saved his life after he almost died in an accident. Falling into a black lake which sent him one million years into the future and became mutated and disfigured as a result, and was encountered an entity which kept him prisoner.

He sought revenge on his nephew, Caps Cooper, for supposedly abandoning him (in fact, Caps had believed him dead) and fought Nova. He was horrified when he discovered that the alien, which he believed had been keeping him prisoner, was actually in love with him.

He went with Caps to see his ex-wife, and found that she had already moved on. He began attacking his wifes new partner before being interrupted by Nova, and they fought through the Coney Island Fun House before circling back to his old home.

As he began fighting Nova again, the Protector appeared declaring its love for him. Cooper begged his wife to say that she loved him but she kept silent, while the Protector took him back to its time.

He was captured by the enigmatic alien, the Stranger, and was imprisoned in the Stranger's Laboratory World for the alien to study him. He remained there until freed by Overmind.

This summer and after

It's been a while since I've published a "written only" post... and since it's the middle of summer, perhaps it's the right time to give a little background and outline the schedule I have in mind for the coming months.

As I wrote in a previous post, the fifth Marvel wave is almost over.

The publication of Virgo (another member of the Zodiac Team) is almost upon us, and the last five figures I'm already working on will follow. These are, not in the order they'll be published, the following:

1-Prism

2-Lady Dorma

3-Megaman

4-Shard

5-Lady Deadpool

Consistently with my work (the real one...) I hope to complete all of the five by the end of the summer.

This way, I can start the second wave of X-Com Custom Figures.

The second wave of X-Com includes another 27 miniatures that I've already printed and have been waiting for a year to be customized, painted, and placed on their bases.

I selected most of these figures as excellent candidates for the X-Com collection, requiring only a few small adjustments with green Milliput—in short, a lot of painting and very little sculpting.

Since the beginning of this blog, the conversion to 3D has been a major innovation, minimizing the material costs of this hobby. In fact, I'd say costs have been reduced by 90%, while production has quadrupled, as the numbers confirm.

Over the next few weeks, I've also planned to print the figures that will be issued with Marvel Wave 6 and with X-Com Wave 3. I started out with the idea of extending both the Marvel and X-COM collections by another 25 characters, but I have to say I got carried away... Now I find it very easy to work with softwares like SculptGL and 3DBuilder, and as you can see in my videos, I'm also supplementing my works with some small AI tools and add on.

Instead of expanding with another 50 figures... I've basically already published 169 on the Cults3D website!!!

Meanwhile, I've procured 4 liters of resin to be ready for production, but if I've done my calculations correctly, between bases and figures, I'll need at least double that amount.

I'll only count what I've managed to print at the end of the summer, and what I'll have printed will all (finally) be 100% e-Custom, created by me, along with a few e-sculpts made from scratch.

Soon you'll also see the first bases with my logo printed, again thanks to the 3D printer. They might look a little crappy... but it's stuff I printed, as I said, a year ago, and I'm certainly not throwing it away, but I have to be honest: after a year of training on e-sculpt, the difference between how I worked at the beginning and how I work now is huge. Bt this will be visible probably in a year or two when this stuff will be published!

Finally, I'll leave you with a comment on the management of Skif-Socials... Aside from the work I put into each miniature (from selection, printing, modeling, and painting, for a total of about 30 hours per figure), I also put a lot of work into the videos and YouTube channel (always with highly "creepy" tools worthy of the worst hobbyist ever... a cell phone camera and a camera stand made out of cardboard...). On average, with about 30 minutes of footage, I manage to keep videos under 3 minutes and shorts under 50 seconds, which are my standard. Publishing a video, especially choosing the soundtrack, takes me at least 6 hours, which is quite a lot...

The response to my videos is paltry, barely more than a few dozen views and 20 followers, but at least my shorts often get over 1000 views, and that, let's say... helps morale!!

It's a different story for the Skif_MC channel on Cults3D, where I have almost a hundred followers and a lot of people who appreciate my e-customs.

The blog, this Blog, on the other hand, remains silent, with very few comments... and the silence is like deep space... I hope this changes, because the blog is over 13 years old, and I'd like to bother you for at least that many more!

Best regards from your little Skif.

Marvel Comics custom Faira Sar Namora

Courtesy Marvel Fandom:

Faira Sar Namora was the servant of Namora.

She was tasked with the mission of retrieving Namorita from the surface, and was interrupted when she discovered Lemuria being attacked by Deviants then by Evolutionaries. She appeared in the surface in order to seek for heroes, but the Evolutionaries followed and captured her, along with two heroes she had encountered, Scarlet Spider and Hummingbird.

They were brought to Wundagore Mountain, for the High Evolutionary. After escaping captivity, along with Nova, who the Evolutionary had captured before, they were confronted by more Evolutionaries, but helped by the New Warriors, who had arrived in the search of Nova. During the battle, the Evolutionary tried to use a machine to kill all those who had powers, but his plan was foiled when Sun Girl blasted the device. After the Evolutionaries and the High Evolutionary left the scene, Namora stayed in Wundagore Mountain to help the New Warriors secure the place.

Marvel Comics Custom Janus (Willem Vincent)

 Courtesy writeups.org ;

Janus is a very minor, presumably obscure Alpha Flight opponent. He was only seen for a few issues during a 1987/88 story arc.

Janus suffers from a severe dissociative disorder, and can physically split into two persons.

The both of him could handle Manikin’s “cave man” body. Therefore, he’s probably a strong and ferocious fighter. But this is not well-established and the game stats are speculative.

In his calm, one-bodied state he’s a particularly creative artist.

Marvel Comics Custom Man Elephant

Courtesy from writeups.org

Man-Elephant (Manfred Haller) is a minor enemy of the She-Hulk, first seen in 1981.

Manfred Haller returned in 2008. But with different powers, different visuals, against a stronger and far more experienced She-Hulk, etc..

Haller is a brilliant inventor and businessman. His inventions are always on the cutting edge of modern technology.

His battlesuit is built to emulate an elephant.

Added features include:

Two tusks which are detachable from the suit’s head, and fastened to powerful chains. These can be used as grappling hooks “or just to tear, gouge and gore”.

The trunk can strangle people or detect “the most subtlest of odors” as well as emit “a sonic signal or knockout gas”.

And the ears can “amplify voices from afar”.

The body consists of a “hydraulics super suit,” a harness which gives the arms, hands, and legs super strength ; and “heavy-duty shock resistant” skin.

Here we go custom:
